Kawasaki MX1
The early-season tone in the Kawasaki MX1 class is being set by previous year’s title-combatants Jed Beaton (Vic) and Kyle Webster (Vic), with the highly-anticipated clash of the titans coming to fruition two rounds into the season.
The two have effectively traded blows across the Wonthaggi and Appin rounds, with Webster’s second moto DNF at the opener putting a dent in his title defence. A resounding 1-1 at Appin for the Boost Mobile Honda rider sent a message to series leader Beaton, however, that the number one is far from out of this championship.
Steady in positions three and four are Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki’s Luke Clout (NSW) and KTM Racing Team’s Nathan Crawford (QLD), who undoubtedly reduced the deficit in Appin compared to Wonthaggi, highlighting they are much closer to the front-runners than what round one suggested. Motivation is at a premium for these two, and they’ll be ready to battle when the gates drop in Gillman.
An immense effort has been showcased by privateer duo Levi Rogers (QLD) and Zachary Watson (QLD) across the two opening rounds, with the two holding down positions five and seven, respectively. Sandwiched in between is Repco Honda Racing’s Wilson Todd (QLD), who has been equally impressive as he continues to recover from a long list of injuries.
Regular contenders and Raceline Husqvarna TDUB Racing’s Todd Waters (QLD) and Regan Duffy (WA) are making solid progress round by round, with hometown hero and KTM Racing Team’s Kirk Gibbs (SA) having been given the all clear for the third round after a fall in Appin’s second moto.
Storylines are aplenty in the Kawasaki MX1 class, with Gillman set to solidify what to look for as the season progresses.

Pirelli MX2
On track, Polyflor Honda Racing’s Brodie Connolly (Vic) is yet to drop a moto win; however, a post-race penalty in Appin saw the defending champion relegated to third for the second moto, and second overall for the round. The number one will be fired up for round three, wanting to reaffirm his place at the top of the Pirelli MX2 Championship.
Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha’s Ryder Kingsford (NSW) had his head down in Appin and charged hard in every lap of both motos, with his no-quit attitude ultimately yielding the overall victory for the round. Kingsford’s intentions are clear – he wants to take the fight to Connolly and be a strong contender for the title this year.
Another South Australian, NFAL Honda Racing’s Alex Larwood, will be looking to capitalise on the home round energy to climb from third in the standings, whilst KTM Racing Team duo Byron Dennis (NSW) and Noah Ferguson (QLD) have declared that they aim to fight for victories from here on out.
Class newcomer and Bulk Nutrients Echuca Yamaha Race Team’s Seth Burchell (NSW) sits in an impressive sixth place overall in his rookie campaign, with both Raceline Husqvarna TDUB Racing’s Rhys Budd (NSW) and Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha Racing’s Jayce Cosford (QLD) building momentum towards the front of the category.
Tensions were high on track the last time out in Appin, with Gillman the perfect place to recommence the series fight.

MAXXIS MX3
Entering the 2025 season in the MAXXIS MX3 class, the question was, who would take the reins at the front of the field? Two rounds in, and it appears that both Monster Energy WBR Yamaha’s Ky Woods (NSW) and Honda Racing Australia’s Kayd Kingsford (NSW) are the current cream of the field.
Both riders are inching away from the rest of the field two rounds in, with Woods having triumphed in Wonthaggi, before Kingsford returned serve on a countback at Appin. It’s no doubt a battle, and one that could last all season long between the young riders.
Honda-mounted Jet Alsop (QLD) sits in third place after a strong opening two rounds, with KTM’s Jackson Fuller (QLD) and Jack Deveson (QLD) rounding out the top five, with the unpredictability in the class promising excitement in both Gillman and the remainder of the season.

EZILIFT MXW
Anyone who bet against SCT Logistics Honda Racing’s Charli Cannon (QLD) at round one of the Penrite ProMX Championship in Wonthaggi would be a sore loser, as the defending champion reminded everyone in the pits why she wears the number one.
It’s going to be up to the likes of Taylor Thompson (NSW) and Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki’s Taylah McCutcheon (QLD) to stop Cannon in her tracks, before she gathers too much momentum in the season to be stopped, so watch for these talented young women as they aim to do just that in Gillman.
Series regulars Madi Simpson (QLD) and Darci Whalley (QLD) will also be in the mix, ready to fight for their place in the EZILIFT MXW class standings.
Gillman is set to be a massive weekend of racing in Penrite ProMX, with riders and fans gearing up for what is set to be a classic in South Australia!

Gates will open at 8:00am on Sunday, April 13. Purchase your tickets here to see Australia’s best motocross riders battle it.
