Here’s your chance to take on the global superstars of the FIM Motocross World Championship at the MXGP of Australia in Darwin from September 19-21.

Expressions of interest are now open for wildcards who’d like to compete in the MXGP, MX2 and WMX (women’s) classes in Darwin as the FIM Motocross World Championship returns Down Under after a 24-year absence.

Successful wildcard applicants will be drawn from riders who have competed or are currently competing in the Penrite Australian Motocross Championship presented by AMX Superstores (ProMX), as well as Australian riders competing internationally.

ProMX competitors in all four major classes – MX1, MX2, MX3 and MXW (women) – can apply for MXGP of Australia wildcard spots, but please note that MX3 riders applying for wildcards in the MX2 world championship class must be 15 years old when the event commences on September 19.

The new permanent 1.6km track will feature 22 corners, 21 jumps and a 90-metre start straight that crosses the Hidden Valley road racing circuit. The track includes a rolling waves section, a massive triple step-up and 30-metre jumps. For more information, click here.

History suggests that eye-catching wildcard performances at the Australian round of the FIM Motocross World Championship can open pathways to international success.

The late Andrew McFarlane, Michael Byrne and Chad Reed all performed with distinction at the Broadford (Vic) rounds of the world motocross title in 2000 and 2001, which roused the interest of industry powerbrokers and helped them carve successful international careers.

The speed and guile of the trailblazing Aussie trio also helped to open doors for countrymen such as Hunter Lawrence, Mitch Evans, Dean Ferris and current ProMX front-runner Jed Beaton who joined the MXGP paddock after them.

Expressions of interest for the 2025 MXGP of Australia close on Friday, May 30.
