Cannon earns fourth MXW championship as QMP’s ProMX finale gets underway
The final round of the 2025 Penrite ProMX Championship, presented by AMX Superstores, roared into life at Queensland Moto Park (QMP) today, with champions crowned and plenty of on-track action at the sweeping Boonah venue.
Headlining the opening day of proceedings was Honda Racing’s Charli Cannon, who captured her fourth successive EZILIFT MXW title after cruising to a race win on Saturday in her bid for a perfect season.
MXV racers Beau Dargel and Corey Vanderlei also sealed the 30-39 and 40-Plus titles, while Mason Ezergailis raced to a moto win in the KTM Group MX65 Futures division.
The Kawasaki MX1, Pirelli MX2, and MAXXIS MX3 classes all held their qualifying sessions ahead of tomorrow’s blockbuster day of finals.

Kawasaki MX1
Fresh off his second moto victory last weekend at Toowoomba, Honda Racing’s Wilson Todd has put himself in the box seat for tomorrow’s finals by topping both the Kawasaki MX1 Class practice and qualifying sessions.
Teammates Todd and Kyle Webster (Boost Mobile Honda) were barely separable in the first practice session, with just 0.007s between the two, while Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki’s Luke Clout logged the third-fastest time.
A storming second qualifying lap saw Todd again jump to the top of the timesheets, which is where he would remain, despite the best efforts of his closest rivals.
Series leader Webster settled for the second-quickest time, 0.142s off Todd’s best lap of 1:47.069, while KTM Racing Team’s Kirk Gibbs rode strongly to the third-fastest position in his final ProMX weekend.
Nathan Crawford (KTM Racing Team) and Clout finished fourth and fifth ahead of tomorrow’s AMX Superstores Pole Shootout and the remaining two motos of the 2025 season.

Pirelli MX2
Saturday’s action was all about KTM Racing Team’s Noah Ferguson, who seems determined to finish his 2025 season on a high note and continue his late-season form.
Ferguson hit the top of the timesheets during the first practice session, narrowly inching the newly-crowned Pirelli MX2 champion Brodie Connolly (Polyflor Honda Racing) by 0.02s with a lap time of 1:46.323. Ryder Kingsford (Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha) achieved the third-quickest lap, just 0.12 off Ferguson’s pace.
The same three contenders filled the top positions during qualifying, but it was Ferguson who made the biggest statement. With a 1:47.719 lap time, the Queenslander was the only Pirelli MX2 rider to dip below the 1:48 mark and was 0.82 seconds quicker than Connolly, while Kingsford completed the top three.
Rhys Budd (Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki) and Alex Larwood (NFAL Honda) filled the remaining top five times.

Maxxis MX3
Current MAXXIS MX3 series leader Kayd Kingsford set the bar in both Saturday’s practice and qualifying sessions ahead of tomorrow’s racing.
After posting the fastest practice time by almost two seconds, the Honda Racing rider went on to top the qualifying sheets early in the afternoon.
Kingsford’s qualifying lap time of 1:49.595 was almost 0.3s quicker than his nearest rival, Jet Alsop (JPM Race Team Honda), with Husqvarna’s Casey Wilmington finishing third-fastest. The remaining top five positions went to Jackson Fuller (KTM) and Ky Woods (Monster Energy WBR Yamaha).

Ezilift MXW
The main story of Saturday’s racing was SCT Logistics Honda Racing’s Charli Cannon, who successfully clinched the EZILIFT MXW title with a race to spare on Sunday.
As has been the case all year, the Sunshine Coast racer was in a league of her own all day. Cannon comfortably ran at the top of the qualifying timesheets, 1.45 seconds clear of Madi Simpson (Monster Energy WBR Yamaha), with Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki’s Taylah McCutcheon, who was a further 1.4 seconds back.
A solid first moto of the weekend saw her convincingly capture her fourth MXW championship, having notched a perfect seven from seven race wins in 2025.
KTM rider Darci Whalley snatched the holeshot and led the opening couple of laps before Cannon pounced and never looked back, ultimately claiming a 21.3-second win over Taylor Thompson (KTM) and McCutcheon. Leah Rimbas (KTM) and Karaitiana Horne (Kawasaki) took the remaining top five spots.
The second and final moto of the championship will run tomorrow, and all eyes will be on Cannon to see if she can complete a perfect season.

KTM Group MX65 Futures
Young Victorian Mason Ezergailis proved to be the class of the KTM Group MX65 Futures division today.
The KTM-equipped rider was quickest in the class’s first qualifying session, setting a lap-time that was 0.16 seconds faster than Kye Sproule (Yamaha), with local rider Rowdy Rabjones (KTM) logging the third-fastest lap.
Ezergailis took that form into Saturday’s opening race, quickly making his way past holeshot-winner Sproule and controlling the encounter from the front. He finished 1.67s ahead of Sproule, with Ryder Madafiglio (Husqvarna) taking third.
KTM riders Archie Black and Cooper Nilsson took P4 and P5, respectively.

Veterans (MXV)
Queensland Moto Park was also the battleground for the MXV championship, and it was Beau Dargel and Corey Vanderlei who snapped up the 30-39 and 40-Plus titles, respectively.
In the 30-39 division, Husqvarna riders Dargel and Luke Weaver finished first and second in qualifying, then split moto wins.
In the opening race, Raymond Cole (Yamaha) secured the holeshot, but Dargel soon took control and went on to win, as Cole and Weaver tangled early. Allister Kent (Yamaha) jumped up to P2 and made a desperate, late charge for the lead, but a mistake in the final corners handed Dargel the win. Weaver recovered to P3, followed by Mitch Budd (Yamaha) and Trent Loder (KTM).
Weaver rebounded to take a wire-to-wire victory in the second moto, but Dargel stayed close enough to ensure he crossed the line in P2 and took the title. Budd, Kent, and Loder claimed positions third through fifth.
In the 40-Plus class, Vanderlei (Kawasaki) won both motos from Tony Corvasce (Yamaha), but the opening race went to the wire, with just 0.67s separating the pair at the line.
Luke Wolfe (KTM) finished third in both races to take third overall, ahead of Steven Moreels (Stark Varg, 4-4) and Samuel Lyttle (Honda, 5-5).
