Kawasaki to officially partner with Penrite ProMX Championship

The 2025 Penrite ProMX Championship presented by AMX Superstores (ProMX) is adding a shade of green, with Kawasaki Australia to become the new naming rights partner of the MX1 class.

Just days after announcing a major commitment to the 2025 Australian Superbike Championship, Kawasaki Australia has now followed suit in the motocross paddock as it doubles down on its support of Australia’s major motorcycle racing championships.

Kawasaki and motocross have enjoyed a celebrated history, with its first machine – an improvised version of a 125cc road bike manufactured by the company’s aircraft division – making its competition debut in 1961, but it wasn’t until a decade later that it really began to get serious thanks to the building purpose-built KX125 and KX250 two-strokes.

The duo went into production in 1973, and it wasn’t long before Kawasaki began flying high – the addition of the less-than-subtle KX500 helping the cause!

Kawasaki soon won major championships around the globe, including in Australia with a factory-team fielding Trevor Williams and the late Anthony Gunter.

Today, the full-size Kawasaki motocross bikes have morphed into four-strokes, with the KX250 and KX450 major players in the ProMX Championship.

Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki is the most prominent ‘green’ team in the paddock, and in 2025 will field 2021 champion and perennial contender Luke Clout in the Kawasaki MX1 class, rookie Cambell Williams in MX2 and Taylah McCutcheon in MXW.

Gina Costello, Lead Brand Marketing Specialist, Kawasaki Motors Australia:
“Supporting the ProMX Motocross Championship as the naming rights sponsor of the MX1 category was a no-brainer for Kawasaki.

“Spanning over half a century, Kawasaki’s iconic KX models have a rich heritage, with race-proven ability and relentless pursuit of performance. This legacy continues in 2025, through this partnership.

“Kawasaki remains dedicated to supporting and elevating the future of motocross in Australia, while reinforcing its deep connection to the sport’s history and continued growth.”

Peter Doyle, CEO, Motorcycling Australia:
“Kawasaki’s commitment to both ASBK and ProMX in 2025 is a massive boost to both championships, signalling the company’s commitment to not only today’s heroes but the emerging stars of the sport and the passionate fan bases.

“Kawasaki’s motocross pedigree spans over eight decades, and we’re delighted that green machines not only continue to ply their trade but that the brand is also an official ProMX partner to add even more prestige to the championship.”
