Triumph joining the ProMX Championship in 2025
In a major coup for the Penrite ProMX Championship presented by AMX Superstores (ProMX), legendary British marque Triumph will join the paddock in 2025 with the talented Jack Simpson leading the charge in MX1.
Simpson will be one of three riders in the Winner Triumph Racing Australia Team, with the Victorian-based Winner Motorcycles switching brands for 2025 with key support from Peter Stevens Motorcycles and Triumph Motorcycles Australia.
Simpson will ride Triumph’s flagship TF 450-RC – developed in conjunction with motocross legend Ricky Carmichael – in the MX1 category, and in the Pirelli MX2 class Connar Adams and Thynan Kean will race the TF 250-X.
“We welcome Winner Motorcycles Racing Program, working with Peter Stevens Motorcycles, into the Triumph Motorcycles Australia network,” said Triumph Motorcycles Australia, Brand Manager, Jono Kent. “It’s exciting to have a team so dedicated to the off-road scene represent our exciting new range of motocross motorcycles.
“We wish Winner Triumph Racing Australia Team the best of luck for this upcoming 2025 season as we work to establish the Triumph Australia off-road program for the future.”
Peter Stevens Motorcycles General Manager Luke McDonnell said the creation of the Winner Triumph Australia Racing Team was a natural fit for both parties.
“With Triumph being a key manufacturer under our dealership network, the all-new TF 450-RC is going to shake things up with its incredible capabilities on track,” said McDonnell.
“We knew with this amazing machine finally going to market in early 2025, we needed to showcase it to the Australian racing community at the highest levels of racing.
“We are thrilled to see Triumph find a home to go racing at a national level in 2025 and to expand our relationship with the Winner Motorcycles Racing program.”
Winner Motorcycles Racing program owner Karen Adams is delighted to be partnering with Triumph.
“To sign this deal to be an official racing partner for an esteemed brand such as Triumph is a remarkable milestone,” said Adams. “This will be a learning year, but I’m confident that between our infrastructure, the Triumph platform and our riders will enable us to be competitive as the season progresses.”
Simpson, a former MX3 contender, Australian off-road champion and desert racing star, returns to Australia after a successful five-year stint competing in America.
“I am so excited to be back to my roots and racing in Australia,” said Simpson. “My last ProMX season was all the way back in 2015 and since then I have travelled the world racing in off-road, desert and more.
“To come home this year and have the honour of racing the TF 450-RC is amazing and I want to thank Winner Triumph Racing Australia for this opportunity.”
Following the launch of its motocross range – the TF 250-X followed by the TF 450-RC – Triumph’s impending ProMX debut comes on the back of the marque’s major commitment to various off-road championships around the globe, including world motocross, EnduroGP and AMA supercross.
Its biggest result to date was Jordon Smith’s victory in the AMA 250 SX West round in Glendale just last Saturday (February 2).
Round one of the 2025 ProMX Championship will be held in Wonthaggi (Vic) on March 22-23.
