Whether you’re travelling with the family, catching up with mates, or hitting the track with the team, here’s your ultimate Traralgon race weekend itinerary.

Saturday: Explore Traralgon’s Buzzing CBD

Roll into town on Saturday and take some time to discover why Traralgon is Latrobe Valley’s biggest and most vibrant town. The CBD is packed with tree‑lined streets, sidewalk cafes, boutique shopping and a thriving atmosphere that blends city energy with regional hospitality.

Start your day with a coffee at one of the many alfresco cafes that dot the commercial centre. Then, wander through the shopping arcades and boutique stores – Hotham Street is a vibrant mix of retail, restaurants and local businesses, while Traralgon Centre Plaza offers everything from fashion and gifts to a wide range of food outlets.

For the best local tips and maps, make your way to the Latrobe Visitor Information Centre at 32 Kay Street. Located inside the Gippsland Performing Arts Centre (next to the Traralgon Library), the friendly staff can assist you with information on accommodation, dining, attractions and everything else you need to know about the Latrobe Valley and greater Gippsland region. Open daily from 10am to 4pm, it’s the perfect first stop to plan your weekend.

The Loy Yang Park circuit is renowned for its gradient shifts, searching cambers, a variety of jumps, hairpins and punchy straights – a track that truly tests Australia’s best motocross talent. After a sensational debut on the ProMX calendar in 2025, the championship returns to Traralgon for the second successive year with support from Latrobe City Council.

Gates open at 8am – arrive early to grab a good spot, soak up the atmosphere and cheer on your favourite riders. The event is family‑friendly with facilities including a bar, kiosk and public toilets on site.

Monday: Extend the Trip and Take the Scenic Route Home

If you can stretch your stay to Monday, don’t miss the chance to explore one of Gippsland’s most spectacular natural attractions – Tarra‑Bulga National Park.

Just a scenic drive from Traralgon via the Strezlecki Scenic Drive Route 94, this lush rainforest in the Strzelecki Ranges is home to giant Mountain Ash trees, beautiful fern gullies and ancient myrtle beeches. Wander through cool temperate rainforest, breathe in the fresh air, and cross the famous Corrigan Suspension Bridge for unforgettable views.

With picnic areas available, it’s the perfect way to wind down after a big weekend of racing – and a reminder of why this corner of Victoria is so special.
