Australia is on a mission to modify FIM Motocross of Nations (MXoN) history at Ernee in France on October 3-4 as it chases a third consecutive victory in the iconic teams’ event.

Only three nations – Great Britain, the United States of America and France – have managed the MXoN three-peat since the event was first held in 1947, and now the MXstore Australian team has the chance to join the exclusive club with an all-new roster featuring Jed Beaton, Aaron Tanti and Alex Larwood.

All three riders will be making their MXoN debuts for Australia, rewarded for outstanding domestic campaigns in 2026 which saw Yamaha teammates Beaton and Tanti claim go 1-2 in the MX1 class of the ProMX Championship and Larwood (Honda) produce a sizzling MX2-winning campaign.

And the Aussies will have to dig deep as they attempt to make it three MXoN victories on the spin, by not only weathering the storm of a boisterous Ernee crowd but also trading blows with star-studded teams from across the globe.

Spain (Guillem Farres) and The Netherlands (Jeffrey Herlings) both have recently crowned FIM world motocross champions in their ranks, while the likes of France, Belgium and Slovenia also have deep rosters.

Italy, Sweden, Switzerland and Latvia also have strong claims – and were all top 10 finishers at last year’s MXoN in America – in a line-up of 33 countries.

Qualifying motos will be held across the Open, MXGP and MX2 classes on Saturday, with the top 20 nations then progressing to the main MXoN decider on Sunday.

Tasmanian-raised Beaton is the MXGP rider for Australia – and will carry the prestigious No. 1 plate – while Larwood and Tanti will be on MX2 and Open duties respectively.

All three classes will all compete against each other once and, out of the six individual moto results recorded by a team’s riders, only the best five scores are added together.

At the 2023 MXoN in Ernee, Australia (Hunter Lawrence, Jett Lawrence and Dean Ferris) finished second behind France before going on to win in 2024 and 2025 with the Lawrences and Kyle Webster.

Team manager Michael Byrne is excited about returning to France for MXoN action.

“The last two years have been incredible for Team Australia with memories that will last a lifetime,” he said.

“Now, the focus is all about providing the best environment for Jed, Aaron and Alex to shine, and I’m confident they have the skill and temperament to put on an exceptional performance for Australia.

“The MXoN is a cauldron like no other, but if we stick to our guns, get our strategies right and prepare as best we can we are going to give it a real shake.”
