Burchell moves up to Pirelli MX2 in 2025

Fresh from his championship-winning campaign in the SX3 class of the Australian Supercross Championship, Seth Burchell will return to the Penrite ProMX Championship presented by AMX Superstores for the 2025 season full of confidence and ready to make an impact with the support of the WBR Yamaha Team.

While not officially part of the WBR Yamaha squad that’s fielding Koby Hantis, Ky Woods and Madi Simpson, the deal for the 18-year old is unique in that it provides a low pressure environment for him to maximise his on-track ability while also giving flexibility to his work commitments as he steps up to the Pirelli MX2 class.

As such, Burchell’s 2025 season will be run with support from WBR Yamaha, its long-term partners Bulk Nutrients, as well Troy Lee Designs Gear, Dunlop Tyres, Yamalube and Regina chains.

“After winning the SX3 championship, I took a few weeks off racing to work out what I wanted to do,” he said. “I love racing but I also don’t want to waste anyone’s time so I worked with Travis (Whitten) to put something in place that would work for both of us and he has been awesome in getting it done.

“We have some great sponsors on board and I’m already hard at work preparing for the season.”

Ahead of the new ProMX season, WBR Yamaha’s Travis Whitten is looking forward to again working with the Australian SX3 champion where they hope to cause a stir on-track.

“We were able to put something together within our dealership that suited Seth’s needs and to help him develop as a rider but not impact our MX3 team,” he said.

“We had a great year working with Seth and wanted to support him with the transition into the MX2 class for 2025.”

The opening round of the 2025 Penrite ProMX Championship presented by AMX Superstores will be held at Wonthaggi on March 22-23.
