MX3 class to carry MAXXIS naming rights again in 2026

The MX3 class will enter the 2026 Penrite ProMX Championship presented by AMX Superstores with MAXXIS again on board as naming rights partner, continuing a relationship that began when the category was established in 2021.

The MAXXIS MX3 class provides a structured pathway for juniors to graduate into the senior ranks at a national level. The class caters for riders aged 14 to under-18 competing on 122-150cc two-stroke and 250cc four-stroke motorcycles, with the added flexibility for exceptional talent to move up to the MX2 category as early as 15—aligning with FIM international age groupings.

Formerly known as MXD, the development class serves as an entry point for both privateer racers and manufacturer-backed team riders to learn the rhythms of national-level racing, and has produced a steady stream of talent. Previous champions include the likes of Jake Cannon, Byron Dennis, and Kayd Kingsford, all having progressed through the category on their way toward senior competition.

MAXXIS offers a wide portfolio of off-road and on-road motorcycle tyres including the MAXXCROSS MX-ST, which is used across motocross disciplines nationally. The brand is distributed in Australia by A1 Accessory Imports.

Ronald Kabella, General Manager of A1 Accessory Imports:
“We came on board with the MX3 class when it launched in 2021 and we’re pleased to continue that relationship into 2026. The category serves a specific purpose; giving junior riders exposure to national-level competition before they step up to MX2 and MX1. We’ve seen the talent that’s come through and we’re excited to keep supporting that pathway.”

Peter Doyle, CEO of Motorcycling Australia:
“MAXXIS has been with the MX3 class from the start, and having them continue for another year provides stability for the category and the riders coming through. The MX3 class is where the next generation of professional racers cut their teeth, and consistent partner support makes that possible.”
