Ryder Kingsford will be in new colours for the 2026 ProMX Championship, joining younger brother and reigning Maxxis MX3 champion Kayd at Honda Racing Australia.

The 20 year-old will again contest the Pirelli MX2 class, but this time with new teammates Kayd and Alex Larwood as he looks to go one better than his runner-up finish from 2025.

Kingsford will launch into 2026 full of confidence having clinched the SX2 class in the Australian Supercross Championship in November, and that is despite suffering an injury late in the year that restricted him from debuting with the squad much earlier.

“It happens,” he said. “I was excited about the opportunity to race overseas, but I know there will be more chances.”

“Right now, my focus is on the ProMX Championship.

“I was lucky enough to ride the bike before I got injured, and I know what it’s capable of.

“I won’t be at 100 per cent for round one, but it’s a long championship and consistency is what really matters.”

The factory Honda team’s recent dominance in the 250cc class was not lost on Kingsford, with the team having secured the past five Australian championships in the class.

“The team is proven, the bike is proven,” he added. “My job is to get back to full fitness and strength.

“I know the team can build what I need to do the job.”

Honda Racing Australia Team Director Yarrive Konsky was delighted to secure the services of the elder Kingsford for the 2026 ProMX campaign.

“We signed Ryder before he claimed his Australian Championship,” he said. “We’ve raced against him for several years and know exactly what he’s capable of.

“His work ethic, talent, and drive are things we believe in with absolute conviction.

“I was highly motivated to sign him and worked hard to make it happen.

“We want people in our program who share that level of hunger and commitment.”

The opening round of the 2026 ProMX Championship will be held at Wonthaggi on March 21-22.
